WSJ’s Tucker had Darcy story “desurfaced”

Emma Tucker

Lachlan Cartwright and Ravi Somaiya of Breaker report that Wall Avenue Journal editor in chief Emma Tucker had its story about media reporter Oliver Darcy “desurfaced.”

Cartwright and Somaiya report, “Murdoch was perturbed as a result of Darcy has aggressively reported on Fox, which he has known as a “right-wing propaganda community.” And it appears that evidently Tucker has mastered a key ability for Murdoch editors — studying his thoughts.

“Hello guys,” reads an inner message between editors from earlier than Murdoch’s name. “Emma desires a narrative fully desurfaced,” it says with a hyperlink to the Darcy story.

“The publication one,” it provides. “Additionally no extra socializing.” (We presume it will be a bit a lot for Tucker to ban her employees from social actions, and that this meant no extra positing on social media.) Her stance, the message continued “is that this story ought to’ve by no means been accomplished.”

The story was duly desurfaced — pulled from the Journal’s app and residential web page. Satirically, one staffer stated, the story had nice site visitors. (We don’t discover it ironic).
