Gary’s Flight Journal – Our Flying Adventures: Return to Cambridge KCGE

We heard that the restaurant at Cambridge MD – KCGE has reopened. The brand new Carol’s Kitchen opened on 9/11 so Mary and I made a decision to make the hop and check out it out. Mary hasn’t been within the aircraft because the Wilkes-Barre journey in June. I have been up within the air as soon as extra then my bride with a shoreline tour in August.

We waited for the low clouds to carry then made our approach to the airport. It is a longer course of getting again into the preflight and getting issues arrange. My tail cam was lifeless, regardless of figuring out I had just lately charged it. I did a reset after I acquired house and it is as soon as once more working.

The flight west was pretty easy, some bumps passing beneath the cloud layer. I made a pleasant touchdown into Cambridge and taxied for the ramp, the commander makes three.

The restaurant has modified, not a lot airplane memorabilia and now a bit extra open seating. The register is gone and also you now pay at your desk, that works for me. The service is superb the meals was okay, scrapple was the most effective I’ve had since retiring to the jap shore. Mary and I’ll return, its a half hour flight every approach and I haven’t got to cross the Delaware Bay. Moreover the eats it is well worth the cease only for gasoline. Right here at Ocean Metropolis it is $6.50 a gallon, Cambridge is $5.88, I am going to take the 62 cents a gallon financial savings anyday. On the return to Ocean Metropolis flight we had been having fun with the journey and dialog in regards to the restaurant. I had simply scanned for visitors after which glanced on the oil temps, stress, CHT’s and EGT’s after I noticed a Bald Eagle heading proper for us. I banked left the Eagle turned again away from us and went beneath the correct wing. An actual oh crap second! As soon as we settled again down the remaining flight to OCMD was wonderful. We did get an alert on our downwind a couple of fox on the runway. I responded in fact since we simply missed a Bald Eagle departing Cambridge. Possibly Mr Eagle ought to meet Mr Fox. As we landed the fox was clearing the runway and working into the infield for canopy.

I am glad to knock out some fly time and I am excited for trip in St. Simons Island very quickly.
