FTX’s Ryan Salame asks court for two-month delay in sentencing

Ryan Salame, the previous co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, has requested a delay in beginning his jail sentence, citing medical wants.

Salame’s protection crew has asked the court to push his self-surrender date from Oct. 11 to Dec. 7, permitting him time to get well from accidents sustained during a dog attack over the summer time.

“On behalf of Ryan Salame, we respectfully request that the Courtroom proceed the date for Salame to voluntarily give up to the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) to start serving his sentence from Friday, October 11, 2024 to Friday, December 7, 2024, in order that he could obtain persevering with medical therapy deemed obligatory by his treating doctor to get well from the accidents sustained on or about June 29, 2024.”

Ryan Salame’s lawyer wrote

The canine chunk reportedly requires ongoing therapy, which his authorized crew argues justifies the postponement.

Salame’s sentencing 

Salame was sentenced to seven years and 5 months for his position in working an unlicensed money-transmitting enterprise and unlawful marketing campaign financing whereas at FTX.

This request is a part of Salame’s broader legal battle. He has been entangled in legal expenses related to FTX’s collapse. Salame was among the many key figures concerned within the alternate, although he notably didn’t testify within the high-profile trial of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried.​

Earlier this 12 months, as a part of his plea deal, Salame agreed to forfeit almost $6 million value of property, together with a restaurant in Massachusetts.
